A Trip Down Memory Lane - April 19
On this day in 1983, actress Carol Burnett made her first appearance in the role of Verla Grubbs on All My Children. A devoted fan of AMC, Burnett was thrilled when the show's writer, Agnes Nixon, created the role just for her. Burnett would play the role occasionally for years and last appeared in September of 2011 as part of the All My Children finale.In 1990, Peter Reckell returned to the role of Bo Brady on Days of our Lives after a three-year absence. He left the show in 1987 due to burnout and explored other roles in theater and television, most notably playing the role of Johnny Rourke on the primetime series, Knots Landing.
On this day in 1996, original General Hospital cast member, John Beradino, made his final appearance as Dr. Steve Hardy. Beradino passed away the following month at the age of 79 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
