A Trip Down Memory Lane - May 16

On this day in 1989, Rick Hearst made his soap opera debut in the role of Scotty Banning on Days of our Lives. This marked his first television role before moving on to long-running roles on Guiding Light (Alan-Michael Spaulding) and General Hospital (Ric Lansing), a role he plays today.

In 1994, Tony (Brad Maule) and Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) were horrified to learn that their daughter, BJ, was brain dead after her school van was hit by a drunk driver. Tony made the decision to donate his seven-year-old daughter's organs so that her heart could be transplanted into her ailing cousin, Maxie Jones.

In 1995, Lily (Martha Byrne) and Damian (Paolo Seganti) welcomed their only child together on As the World Turns, a son named Luke. The character of Luke would be aged considerably for storyline purposes and by 2005, actor Van Hansis would make the role his own and be honored with three consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
