On this day in 1983, Kristian Alfonso made her debut as Hope Williams on Days of Our Lives. She had turned down the role years earlier.
In 1997, actor Michael Stroka passed away at the age of of 58 after a battle with kidney cancer. Stroka played numerous characters on the ABC serial, Dark Shadows, as well as Dr. Quentin Henderson on The Edge of Night.
In 2011, ABC announced the cancellation of both All My Children and One Life to Live. The president of ABC daytime programming, Brian Frons, would be fired later that year.
On this day in 2012, Dark Shadows star, Jonathan Frid (Barnabas Collins) passed away at the age of 87. Some media outlets reported his death had occurred the day before...on Friday the 13th...but, Frid's nephew would confirm that he actually died in the early morning hours of April 14.
